"Maaa~" She gasped out, taking her last drink of the fifth bottle of Sake. She had been drinking with her best friends that night, trying her best to cover up all the troubling thoughts that had plagued her mind. It was normal these days. The haunting truth behind Gin's disappearance to the looks, glares and insecurities she felt upon herself and yet no one questioned, and no one would dare mention the name of the Fox that once occupied her life and stood mostly at her side.

The sake had been warm, rice sake to be exact—her favorite. Due to her lack of appetite, her alcohol tolerance was even further down the scale. She had been losing weight, but no one noticed, and those that did once again didn't bring it up. She was a mess, but only that showed in private, not even her drunken stupor gave away her pain, only masked it better than her façade could.

Her eyes shifted, gray-blue hues locked upon her blond friend; Kira, who had already passed out on the tenth division's couch. However Shuuhei leaned forward with his head within his hands, groaning softly. Her face was flushed due to the alcohol and even she could barely move her head without a feeling of falling over. The last thing she needed to do was pass out on Kira or even Shuuhei.

So their drunken stupor didn't get carried away this time. From what she could tell through her blurry eyes she could see that their clothes were still on. So far anyway and one had already passed out, and with a even more of a squint, she could see drool escaping Kira's lips, trailing down his neck. Normally, Rangiku would have moved so Kira could have the couch, but even if she tried to push herself up, nothing moved. "Ita.." She muttered, now feeling the pang of pain in the temple of her head.

Slowly, carefully, she moved, placing her lower legs upon Kira's lap, moving one foot out unstable to Shuuhei where she lightly tapped his elbow with her toe. "Shhuuuheii~" She tried her best to get his attention, but was failing miserably or perhaps she wasn't really hitting his elbow, which caused her to lift her body up just a little to make sure she wasn't kicking Kira instead of her other friend.

"Meh.. Shuuhei~ Look." She lifted her hand to her haori and parted it a little, trying to get his attention in the most drunken seductive way. Shuuhei on the other hand, shifted his head, turning it slightly in his hand just in time to see the small peep show Rangiku was giving her. He blinked a few times, bringing his hand up to his eye where he rubbed it lightly. She killed him. It seemed every time they were alone, she would do something to remind him of the pain he held. How he wanted to show her that Gin was nothing and could easily be replaced by someone better—someone like him. However he didn't have the courage, something he had always lacked.

"Rangiku-San." His words were more put together than hers, and if it wasn't for all the alcohol that she had consumed, she would have thought he hadn't drank at all. "You are awful." He reached over Kira, grasped her hands and moved them down to her sides. He then—carefully—moved her blouse back together, covering up the luscious breasts so he wouldn't be tempted. The last thing he needed was to take advantage of a drunken woman that—he had been in love with since he had met her.

He stood, moved in front of Kira and lowered himself down on his knees so he could be almost eye level with Rangiku. His eyes locked upon her's as he moved one hand to her forehead, brushing a small strand of ginger hair back. He sighed. He knew these words and actions wouldn't be remembered in the morning, even if she was staring right back at him. "One day, you will forget about Ichimaru and move on. When you do, I'll be there to pick you up. I promise this." He leaned over to her and lightly kissed her forehead, watching her eyes close in a slow reaction, however he didn't see them reopen.

"Shuuhei.." She whispered as she realized that sleep was taking over her. She barely heard his words, only pieces of it. Her brain didn't even comprehend, especially when she felt the warm touch to her forehead. "Shuu.." And she was gone. By the sound of he soft snores, Hisagi stood, walked over to the door and looked back only to look at her one more time before he retired to the ninth division barracks. Silently, he moved through the door, shut it from behind and disappeared within the twilight. Never had he brought up the topic again, afraid of her reaction. He knew one day, Gin will betray her and hopefully he could be there to protect her and keep her safe. Hopefully..
When I saw this picture [link] I fell in love with it. So~ Taking that picture, I made a small one-shot about it. <3

I love the pairing Shuuhei and Rangiku. He loves her and yet she's so not over Gin, but I think after this last chapter she'll reconsider Gin.

-Shakes fist-

And I'm a Rangiku x Gin fan too!

Such torn loves.
